Panamanian Tamale
Ingredients
1 kilogram of Dry corn
2 cups of Cooked and shredded chicken
2 Medium onions
2 Medium tomatoes
3 Chilies
1 can of Tomato paste
Raisins and olives
1 pinch of Salt
2 tablespoons of Olive oil
1 cup of Water
Banana leaves
1 pinch of Pepper
Preparation
Step 1 : First, wash the corn well and cook it in a pot with water until tender.
Step 2 : Then, strain the corn and grind it until obtaining the dough, then knead it with greased hands.
Step 3 : Next, in a hot skillet with oil, add the chopped tomato, chilies, and onions.
Step 4 : Add a little salt, the chicken pieces, the tomato paste, and one cup of water.
Step 5 : Let it cook covered for 25 minutes.
Step 6 : Meanwhile, soften the banana leaves by immersing them in boiling water for about 3 minutes.
Step 7 : Then, remove them and let them cool.
Step 8 : Subsequently, place a banana leaf and spread part of the dough over it.
Step 9 : In the center, put the chicken stew with vegetables and fold some of the leaf.
Step 10 : Wrap the preparation well in the banana leaf and secure with thread.
Step 11 : Cook the wrapped tamales in boiling water for 25 minutes.
Step 12 : Serve them hot and enjoy.
